Société Minière du Katanga (Somika)

Congolese copper-cobalt producer near Lubumbashi with a processing plant at Kipushi. USGS's 2022 yearbook gives Kalyan Ltd and Shukrana Ltd 50% each and an estimated cobalt capacity of 3,500 tonnes a year, and ITIE-RDC's 2025 artisanal report lists its research permits PR 1510, 12511 and 12512. ITIE-RDC's 2023 report records a USD 55,000 dividend it paid to the state treasury (DGRAD) that year. Its plant carries the Responsible Minerals Initiative facility ID CID003426, under which Samsung Electronics lists SOMIKA SARL as conformant (2024) and Fairphone lists the Société Minière du Katanga Kipushi Plant as audit passed (data year 2023); Microsoft's 2021 cobalt list also names it.
