Boss Mining

Congolese copper-cobalt producer, a partnership of Eurasian Resources Group and Gécamines, which ERG describes as a producer of copper cathode and cobalt concentrate at Lubumbashi, Kakanda and Luita, acquired in 2009. USGS's 2022 yearbook gives ERG 51% and Gécamines 49%, ITIE-RDC's 2023 report gives Gécamines 49%, and USGS gave its Mukondo Mountain mine near Kakanda a capacity of 3,600 tonnes of cobalt a year (2022). Gécamines' 2024 management report says its activities stopped on 29 May 2023; the Ministry of Mines lifted the suspension by a letter of 7 August 2024, but artisanal and semi-industrial operators working its permits PE 463, 467, 468 and 469 under the protection of armed security forces were impeding the restart. The mining cadastre's register at 31 July 2025 lists Boss Mining SAS as holder of those four permits, each active and under renewal. Artisanal sites occupy three of them: Menda (PE 467), Kapombo (PE 468) and Kimbalasani (PE 469). ITIE-RDC's 2025 artisanal report reads PE 463 differently, as Gécamines' in its text and as Kai Peng Mining's in a site fiche.
